American harpist Chelsea Lane began harp lessons at age eight in Pittsburgh, PA, where she studied with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members Anne-Marguerite Michaud and Gretchen Van Hoesen. Since then, she has performed solo and chamber recitals internationally, and has appeared with several major ensembles, including the Czech Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony Orchestra, and Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Lane graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University in 2014 with a B.A. in Music, where she studied with Dr. June Han, Harp Professor of the School of Music. At Yale, she received the prestigious Wrexham Prize in Music for Excellence in Performance, the Selden Memorial Prize for Musical Accomplishment, and first prize in the William Waite Concerto Competition, as well as performed with both the Yale Symphony Orchestra and Yale Philharmonia. While in the YSO, she recorded Hindemith’s “Konzertmusik, Op. 49 for Piano, Brass, and Two Harps” with Turkish concert pianist Idil Biret, which was released on the Naxos label.

During her summers, Ms. Lane has participated in the Aspen Music Festival and School, MusicAlp, and Gargilesse International Harp Academy, where has had the privilege of working with harpists such as Nancy Allen, Deborah Hoffman, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Isabelle Perrin, Fabrice Pierre, Kathy Kienzle, and Gilian Benet.

In 2016 she performed Debussy’s Danse Sacrée et Danse Profane with the Koninklijke Muziekkapel van de Gidsen in Brussels’ historic Grande Salle. Previously, she was runner-up for ASTA’s National Solo Competition for Harp, a prizewinner for the Pittsburgh Concert Society, Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Young Artist Competition, Tuesday Musical Club Scholarship, Keynotes Scholarship, and Duquesne Young Artist Competition, and a finalist for national competitions such as the Anne Adams Awards and the American Harp Society Competitions.

After completing a Masters of Music degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel) under the tutelage of renowned harpist Jana Boušková and a year spent in graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University with PSO Principal Harpist Gretchen Van Hoesen, Chelsea Lane is now pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance at the City University of New York Graduate Center.
